cisnormativity

cisnormativity: the assumption that all people are cisgender, meaning their sex assigned at birth matches their gender identity, and that this is the default or “normal” gender identity

heteronormativity

heteronormativity: the assumption that everyone is heterosexual and heterosexuality is the default, “normal” sexual orientation

gender identity

gender identity: how a person identifies based on their internal understand of their gender. Gender identities may include man, woman, agender, androgynous, genderqueer, nonbinary, transgender and many others or a combination thereof.

sexual orientation

sexual orientation: a person’s romantic, emotional and/or sexual attraction to other people. Sexual orientations include, but are not limited to, asexual, bisexual, gay, heterosexual, lesbian, pansexual and queer.

pronouns

pronouns: words that are used to refer to another person. Examples of pronouns are they, them, she, her, he, him, ze, zir, xe, xem, ve, ver, ze/zie and hir.

LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ : lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning plus many other sexual orientations, gender identities and other identities that are included under this umbrella. The plus includes, but is not limited to, intersex, agender, asexual, nonbinary and non-gender conforming.
